Apple's search crawler for Spotlight, Siri and Safari features. If robots.txt doesn't mention Applebot but mentions Googlebot, Applebot follows the Googlebot rules.

What happens if you block it

Your site won't appear in Apple's search features such as Spotlight, Siri and Safari suggestions.

Our take

Keep it allowed. To opt out of Apple's AI training, disallow Applebot-Extended.

robots.txt

To block it:

User-agent: Applebot
Disallow: /

To allow it explicitly (useful when a wider rule blocks other bots):

User-agent: Applebot
Allow: /

robots.txt allows it, but is it really getting through?

A firewall or CDN rule can reject Applebot even when robots.txt welcomes it, and nothing in your CMS shows it. Our check sends a live request as Applebot alongside a normal browser and a Googlebot control, so a bot-verification rule isn't mistaken for a block.
