Huawei's crawler for Petal Search. Huawei says its index also powers Huawei Assistant and AI Search, and that it follows robots.txt.

What happens if you block it

Your site drops out of Petal Search, and Huawei Assistant and AI Search lose your content. Huawei doesn't say whether it's used for model training.

Our take

Keep it if you want traffic from Huawei phones and Petal Search.

robots.txt

To block it:

User-agent: PetalBot
Disallow: /

To allow it explicitly (useful when a wider rule blocks other bots):

User-agent: PetalBot
Allow: /

robots.txt allows it, but is it really getting through?

A firewall or CDN rule can reject PetalBot even when robots.txt welcomes it, and nothing in your CMS shows it. Our check sends a live request as PetalBot alongside a normal browser and a Googlebot control, so a bot-verification rule isn't mistaken for a block.
